Soothing-Sundays

Image Credit: https://freestocks.org/  How do we heal from the hardships and heartaches we experience in life? What have we done to sooth our pain, our hearts, and our thoughts? Many of us suffer every day and continue to present to the world a false narrative about ourselves. We present ourselves as complete and unscathed by hardships, putting on a smile. As if it was wrong to not be okay. Here We are Acknowledging Our Lives It is important to know that the pain or aches in our lives are valid and normal. No matter the gravity of pain, or how long we have felt a certain way, we hurt ultimately because we are human. We may not ever forget about our hardships, but they should not disturb our ability to function. No days are right or wrong when we set time aside to take care of ourselves. Picture Worth a 1000 Words

Image credit: pexels.com How often are we alone? Whomever this woman is, it is unusual to see anyone sitting alone in front of such an immaculate piece of art. How often do we experience anything of beauty on our own? This is such a powerful image as the woman could be taking a risk and doing something on her own. This could also be her escape, her isolation away from the world, in which her curiosity no longer is focused on the world but in the universe within the painting. When was the last time we took a risk? Recognizing what can and cannot be controlled can change how we perceive ourselves and our actions. The woman in the image, is she no longer interested in controlling the world or has she realized that the world had a much greater interest in controlling her? What did she risk?  Perhaps we have not taken risks in a while. What are we willing to try on our own? Self-Care? What are We Accomplishing Here?

Welcome to Self-Care and Wellness. Lets start off by explaining what  self-care  really means. First off,  it is important to note that self-care looks different for everybody. What works for someone may not necessarily work for you or vice versa and that is okay. Any effort which contributes to ones well-being can be considered self-care. Exercise, reading, meditation, gathering with friends, etc are all considered self-care. Why is it important to take care of ourselves? How often do we do so? Many of us have forgotten to take care of ourselves due to the other taxing aspects of our lives which we prioritize ahead of ourselves. Jobs, school, children, friends, social media, etc. Although not always intentional, the energy exerted maintaining our lifestyles instead on our well-being can become detrimental to our mental, emotional, and physical health.
